Synod hearings on draft social statement, records 2008

Records in this series comprise reports from synod hearings that took place in 2008 on the draft social statement on human sexuality developed by the Task Force for ELCA Studies on Sexuality. These synod hearings had a convenor, recorder, and a task force representative. Synods were provided with a template with which to have a recorder note participants responses to questions about the statement or to offer observations on various aspects of the draft statement. It is difficult to tell if all of the synods recorded their observations using this template. It appears that some provided typewritten notes of observations and comments made at hearings. In some instances, task force staff provided their notes about hearings in which they were in attendance. In addition to the hearing records, there are records related to hearing guidelines, dates for synod hearings, an example of the template to use to record observations, copies of hearing sign-in sheets, and publicity packets for synods.
